A message from Sheralyn

The County Court is where the most serious crimes are heard and brought to conclusion. It is a place where tough decisions are made everyday and lives impacted. And, for over 30 years, it is where I practiced law, made those decisions and handled those serious cases.

A County Court judge is best equipped for the rigors of the work when they bring a broad perspective of the law and how our criminal justice system functions. Through my work as a prosecutor and public defender I acquired insights into the daily working of the court and served as a voice for the most marginalized in our community. And while working at the  Department of Probation and Office of Assigned Counsel, I gained a broader perspective on our criminal justice system that provide me a unique ability to carry out justice to the fullest.

I am also proud to say that I have long been involved in finding alternatives to incarceration for non-violent offenders and have supported justice-involved youth. Whenever appropriate, I will use this experience to provide opportunities for rehabilitation - further strengthening our communities and remaining steadfast to our country’s aspirations.

My husband, a public interest lawyer and I have 2 grown children, each of whom has worked on behalf of marginalized people and in the interests of justice, making us very proud parents.

I went to law school to serve the public good. It would be my great honor to continue that work as a County Court Judge.
